Makers U is a hands-on creative education and shopping experience featuring workshops, interactive learning, and a vibrant marketplace of makers and small businesses. Attendees come ready to learn, create, and shop — which means you’ll be teaching your ideal audience.

Application & Selection
How do I apply to teach?
Complete the Presenter Application with your proposed class details, photos, skill level, and any supporting information. Our team reviews submissions and will notify selected instructors.
How are presenters selected?
We look for:
- High-value, engaging content
- Clear learning outcomes
- Visual or hands-on elements
- Strong presenter experience or credibility
- Variety across topics and skill levels
Can I teach more than one class?
Yes! Many presenters teach multiple sessions or multiple topics. Indicate your availability during the application process.
Class Details
How long are classes?
Most classes run 45–60 minutes, depending on format. Some specialty or advanced workshops may run longer if approved.
How many people are in each class?
Class sizes vary based on room size and topic, but are typically 100 attendees. Some specialty workshops may be smaller by design.
Do attendees need to register for classes in advance?
Yes – attendees reserve classes in advance. However, we often allow a limited number of walk-ups if space allows.
What if someone just wants to watch and not participate?
Totally fine! Observers are welcome unless otherwise noted.
Class Kits & Materials
Do presenters provide class kits or materials?
Yes. Presenters are responsible for providing any materials, tools, or kits needed for their class project.
Can I charge for class kits?
Yes! Kits are priced and sold by you. Some may be available for pre-purchase, and all must be available at the show.
Do attendees have to purchase a kit?
No. Many presenters allow observation only. However, if your class requires materials to participate, kits are encouraged.
Compensation & Sales
How are presenters compensated?
Presenters receive compensation benefits such as:
- Exposure to hundreds of ideal customers
- Opportunity to sell kits, products, and brand yourself
- Marketing promotion
Professional networking connections
Can I sell my products?
Absolutely! You may:
- Sell kits
- Promote your business
- Direct attendees to your booth (if also vending)
Provide discounts, QR codes, email sign-ups, etc.
We love when presenters grow their businesses here.
Equipment & AV
What equipment is provided?
Most classrooms include:
- Projector or display screen
- Microphone (if needed)
- Tables & chairs
- Basic room setup
Special equipment needs must be requested in advance.
Can I bring my own equipment?
Yes — just let us know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.
Schedule & Logistics
When will I receive my class schedule?
What time should I arrive before class?
Please arrive at least 30 minutes early to set up and test equipment.
Where do I check in?
Presenter Check-In details will be emailed prior to the event and clearly marked on-site.
Tickets & Badges
Do presenters get event access?
Yes — presenters receive a Presenter Badge with event access.
Do presenters get guest passes?
Some levels include guest passes. Details will be provided with your acceptance.
